Creative Dance

(for 3 & 4 year olds)

Children enjoy music, movement and mime.  They learn basic ballet positions through stories.  Their gross motor skills are enhanced through locomotive movements such as walking, running, marching and jumping.  Co-ordination is enhanced through hoop, ball and ribbon apparatus.  Exercises are structured to develop strength, balance, flexibility and co-ordination.


Class time:  Saturdays 8:45am-9:30am


Pre-Ballet I

(for 4 & 5 year olds)

Children enjoy music, movement and mime.  They learn basic ballet positions of arms and feet.  Their gross motor skills are enhanced with basic travelling steps such as walking, marching, skipping, running and gallops - all to music and all appropriate for their age and ability.  Exercises are designed to develop strength, balance, flexibility and co-ordination.


Class time:  Saturdays 9:30am-10:30am


Pre-Ballet II

(for 6 & 7 year olds)

Children enjoy music, movement and mime.  They learn basic ballet positions of arms and feet.  travelling steps such as the balletic walk, runs, gallops, skips, waltz & polka rhythms - all to music and all appropriate for their age and ability.  Exercises are designed to develop strength, balance, flexibility, co-ordination and grace.


Class time:  Saturdays 10:30am to 11:30am


Ballet I

(for 8 year olds and up)

Children enjoy learning the classical ballet technique through barre and centre exercises appropriate for their ability.  Spotting, tours, saut├ęs, polka and waltz are a few of the moves learned and enhanced at this level.


Class time:  Saturdays 11:30am to 12:30pm


Ballet II

(for 10 year olds and up with previous dance experience)

Technique, execution and terminology are enhanced from previous levels.  Barre and centre exercises incorporate preparation for pirouettes and for some of the more difficult allegro moves.


Class time:  Saturdays 2:00pm-3:00pm


Ballet III

(for 12 year olds and up with previous dance experience)

Students should have a minimum of 3 years dance training.  Technique, execution and terminology are enhanced from previous levels.


Class times:  Saturdays - 3:00pm-4:00pm and

                      Wednesdays - 4:30pm-5:30pm


Ballet IV

(for 15 year olds and up with previous dance experience)

This is an advanced class.  Students should have a minimum of 6 years dance training behind them.


Class times:  Saturdays 4:00pm-5:15pm and

                      Wednesdays 5:30pm-7:00pm (with pointe)

              

Pointe

Students enter pointe class at the teacher's disceton.


Adult Ballet Level 1

Always wanted to try ballet, looking for a new gentle form of exercise or returning to ballet after an extended period of time - this class teaches you proper ballet technique through barre and centre exercises.   Strength, balance, flexibility and co-ordination are developed.


Class times:  Saturdays 1:00pm-2:00pm and/or

                     Thursdays 4:30pm-5:30pm


Adult Ballet Level II

One or two years previous dance training required.  Improve on techniques learned in Level I.  More barre, centre and allegro movements are introduced.   Enjoy a class focusing on you and develop strength, balance, flexibility and grace.


Adult Ballet Level III

This is an advanced class.  Three or more years ballet training required.  A continuation of techniques learned in the previous levels.  New barre, centre and allegro movements.  This level will integrate into the regular Ballet III or Ballet IV classes.


Class time:  Wednesdays 7:00pm - 8:15pm
