The School started in 1970 as the Rideau School of Performing Dance. It has been under the direction of Nancy since 1999. The focus of the school is to teach proper technique and help students dance to their full potential in a friendly yet professional manner. Students are given opportunities to perform in our December and May shows.
Young dancers gain grace, poise, self-confidence and flexibility. They benefit from the muscle toning, fitness and self-discipline that dance offers. Children enjoy their commitment to our dance program and the experience of performing on a stage.
The ballroom program is based on the international style and can be used for social dancing or competitive dancing. You will learn to move with ease to music and to be comfortable on the dance floor. Competitive training and private lessons are available. Opportunities to practice are Friday Night Parties at the Gotta Dance Ballroom & Latin Studio, 414 Pleasant Park Road, Ottawa (in the Pleasant Park Baptist Church). Visit www.gottadanceottawa.com.
Nancy has been instructing in Kemptville over 20 years. She was trained by Christiana Maier, previous director of the School. Nancy has furthered her training in Ottawa with Les Petits Ballets and The School of Dance and at various workshops at the National Ballet of Canada and through CDTA in Toronto. She instructs for Les Petits Ballets and teaches ballet to competitive gymnasts, skaters and ballroom dancers. She has done private coaching in body technique for the Quebec Special Olympics Inc.
